Freddy’s Frozen Custard: The Home of the First Steakburger

At Freddy’s, the famous frozen custard is a signature part of the dining experience that it had to be included in the restaurant’s name. But to everyone’s surprise, the story of the famous Kansan restaurant did not begin with the dessert. Instead, it started with a mouthwatering main course that became famous during the 1950s – the steakburger.

Founded in Wichita, Kansas by WWII veteran Freddy Simon, Freddy’s was the first restaurant ever to have served the savory, juicy, downright delicious steakburger inspired by an era that focused on superior quality, made-to-order meals which unfailingly brought loved ones and families together. After several years of creating sumptuous burgers, his sons, Bill and Randy, took over the business, and worked alongside successful restaurateur, Scott Redler, to ensure that the exceptional recipe will continue to live up to the ageless criterions of their father’s generation.

Needless to say, the team succeeds in doing so and today, hundreds of thousands gather at Freddy’s Frozen Custard for great food and good company that do not only satisfy their gastronomic cravings but warm their souls as well.
